General Information for Visitors and Guests
The monks follow the monastic guidelines (vinaya) that have been laid down by the Buddha, but laypeople who come to the hermitage are not bound to follow the guidelines for monastics. Monks consume their daily meal between dawn and midday and do not eat in the afternoon or evening. Any monk can be addressed as “bhante” and most monks are available until noon to answer questions from visitors. If you wish to pay a visit to the hermitage, it is best to arrive between 10am – 11am.
